"HOMETOWN HEROES" THEMED LABOR DAY GRAND PARADE

 On August 30th the Labor Day Grande Parade, proudly presented by First State Bank of Uvalde, honored Uvalde's Hometown Heroes with the Grand Marshal float. On the float were our honored veterans, active duty military, and an escort from Uvalde's JROTC. The parade began with a presentation of the National Anthem and a fly-over. Fun was had by all in celebration of Uvalde's Hometown Heroes.

UVALDE FOOD PANTRY DONATION

 Cub Scout Pack 81 took the initiative to raise money for the Uvalde Food Pantry by collecting cans since January of 2014. Pack 81 raised $150 and with matched donations from Uvalde Recycling, First State Bank of Uvalde & an anonymous donor the amount totaled $600. The goal for the Cub Scout Pack 81 is a $1000 donation to the Uvalde Food Pantry and plans to reach that goal before the Thanksgiving holiday is underway.

ST. HENRY DE OSSO CAMP VISITS FSB

"What kinds of things can you do at a bank?", asks Senior Vice President, Bill Dillard of the twenty one campers from St. Henry De Osso Family Project. On July 21st camp sponsors brought students ages 5-11 years to talk about the operations of a bank and how to handle money by budgeting to save. Campers had the opportunity to ask questions, get a tour of the bank, and were given coin purses to help save their money.

FIRST STATE BANK OF UVALDE GIVES SCHOLARSHIP

First State Bank of Uvalde and Sul Ross Rio Grande College recently signed a unique agreement for a scholarship with a revolutionary new requirement. In addition to the traditional scholarship criteria, students applying for the $2000 per year scholarship will be required to take a Financial Literacy Class offered by First State Bank. The Financial Literacy Class will be taught by employees of the Bank and will cover elements of spending control, budgeting, and financial planning.

 FIRST STATE BANK OF UVALDE RECEIVES LiFE AWARD

On behalf of First State Bank of Uvalde, Chairman of the Board & CEO, Dick Geries, received the LiFE (Leaders in Financial Education) Award in Colorado Springs on May 8, 2014 at the Texas Bankers Association's 130th Annual Convention. The LiFE Award honors Texas banks that are dedicated leaders in promoting financial education in their communities.
