2ND ANNUAL VETERANS LUNCHEON

Uvalde County Veterans and spouses were invited to attend Tomas Valle American Legion Post 479's Annual Veterans Luncheon, which was held on August 20th from 10AM to 2PM. First State Bank of Uvalde sponsored the event with guest speaker/author/Veteran -  Staff Sgt. (Ret) Shilo Harris. www.shiloharris.com

CAMPERS VISIT FSB

On July 27th campers from St. Henry De Osso Family Project visited First State Bank of Uvalde to learn more about how a bank is operated and the importance of saving money. Bank employees also taught the students about the difference between needs and wants. Students were encouraged to start a savings and were given a red FSB Piggy Bank.

FSB 2015 ESSAY WINNERS 

 For the first ever First State Bank of Uvalde Financial Literacy Essay contest, 4 winners were selected out of nearly 100 essays. The subject of the essay was "Why You Should Save Some of Your Money". Students were asked to provide examples of money saving tips and why budgeting is important. Top four winners were given Young Savers Accounts ranging from $300 to $50. Every student who submitted an essay is eligible for a FREE FSB RED PIGGY BANK.

BOOK SIGNING AND SALE AT FSB

Local author, Katharine Hamilton, held a book signing and sale on June 17th in the west lobby of First State Bank of Uvalde. Hamilton's new book "The Unfading Lands" takes the reader on an adventure into another realm "in the age-old battle of good versus evil." "The Unfading Lands" was number 76 on Amazon's Hot 100 New Releases this year.

FSB ADDRESSES UVALDE BOARD OF REALTORS

 On Wednesday, June 17th, officers from the First State Bank of Uvalde loan department addressed the Uvalde Board of Realtors during their monthly meeting. FSB officers presented the upcoming changes to the Truth In Lending Act (TILA)-Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA).

FSB UTOPIA WINS MOST VOTES FOR SCHOOL FUNDRAISER

On March 12, 2015 FSB employee, Tina Clark, took part in a fundraiser for new computers and other technology for grades K-5 at Utopia ISD. Clark won the most votes which resulted in a pie in the face. Total for the fundraiser was $5905.00.

RECOGNITION FROM DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY

The Internal Revenue Service awarded First State Bank of Uvalde with the "Community Service Leadership Certificate of Appreciation" for its efforts in partnering with the Uvalde VITA program.  In 2014 FSB supplied VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) customers with a helpful financial tools packet. The packet included information from Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' "Building Wealth", MoneyMatters, and FDIC's Money Smart. First State Bank continues to provide helpful information to VITA customers.

BANKING 101 FOR NUECES CANYON STUDENTS

Employees at FSB Camp Wood Branch welcomed 2nd grade students from Nueces Canyon on January 30th to learn about the banking business, get a tour of FSB, and also had a lesson on saving money.
