FSB Scholarship Awarded

Chanel Perez, a senior at Sul Ross State University Rio Grande College, received this year's scholarship from the First State Bank of Uvalde.

FSB Employee "Pace Setter Award" Winner

Brianna Taylor of the First State Bank Camp Wood Branch was presented the 2nd Quarter Pace Setter Award recently “in recognition of outstanding effort in setting the pace” for all Bank employees.
“The Pace Setter is the person who puts in the extra effort to go the extra mile to advance the interests of First State Bank and the customers we serve throughout Southwest Texas. “The Pace Setter leads by example and demonstrates, by their determination and self-disciple, what it takes to accomplish the goals and objectives of First State Bank that ultimately benefit both the Bank and the people we serve.”
Brianna was presented the award, signed by Bank Chairman and CEO Dick Geries, as well as a $100. Gift Card to Oasis Outback.

"Explain at least 3 differences between needs and wants when dealing with your money”. This was the essay topic for the 3nd Annual First State Bank Financial Literacy Essay contest. Students in grades 6th-9th from the surrounding Uvalde, Dimmit, & Real counties were encouraged to write about how to make wise purchase decisions when dealing with wants vs. needs. They each won a Young Savers Account with amounts up to $300. 

2017 winners include: 

1st place - Morgan Dreyer - Uvalde Classical Academy

2nd place - Karolina Navarro - Sabinal ISD

3rd place - Kayleigh Griffin - Knippa ISD

4th place - Roberto Zamora - Knippa ISD
