UVALDE COUNTY FAIRPLEX NEW SIGN

First State Bank Chairman and CEO Dickie Geries (center right) was among those commemorating the start up of the new entrance sign for the Uvalde County Fair Plex. In addition to static displays, the sign features video-enhanced information and event advertising. First State Bank along with businesses represented in the photograph contributed the funds necessary to cover the costs of the sign.

 SWTJC RESERVED PARKING WINNER

First State Bank of Uvalde sponsored a reserved parking place for the winner of a drawing that was held in conjunction with Southwest Texas Junior College's Kick-off event in August of this year. The winner of the reserved parking place is Zachary Muskgrove shown here with SWTJC president, Dr. Hector Gonzales (left) and First State Bank of Uvalde's CEO and Chairmen of the Board, Dickie Geries.

 FRIO CANYON CHAMBER GUN DRAWING

Every year First State Bank supports the Chamber by donating a rifle for the annual drawing.

FSB DONATES TO UVALDE HUMANE SOCIETY

First State Bank of Uvalde Chairman and CEO Dickie Geries (center) recently presented a donation check to the Uvalde Humane Society for $250. Receiving the donation was Melissa Garnett, president of the Humane Society Board (center right). Also pictured is Ramon Castro, board member.

Half of the funds were raised by Bank employees Christina Tovar and Vennessa McLerran, assisted by UHS student Ben Tomasini representing the Pioneers Youth Leadership program, from cold bottled water sales at the annual Dove Expo, Saturday, August 30, at Oasis Outback. The Bank matched those funds to make up the donation.

 NEW SCOREBOARD FOR U.C.I.S.D

First State Bank of Uvalde joined others who made donations so that the old score board at the Honey Bowl Stadium could be replaced. Pictured (left to right) with FSB Chairman and CEO Dickie Geries is U.C.I.S.D. Superintendent, Dr. Jeanett Ball and Assistant Superintendent, Hal Harrell.

FIRST STATE BANK OF UVALDE GIVES SCHOLARSHIP

First State Bank of Uvalde and Sul Ross Rio Grande College recently signed a unique agreement for a scholarship with a revolutionary new requirement. In addition to the traditional scholarship criteria, students applying for the $2000 per year scholarship will be required to take a Financial Literacy Class offered by First State Bank. The Financial Literacy Class will be taught by employees of the Bank and will cover elements of spending control, budgeting, and financial planning.

 FIRST STATE BANK OF UVALDE RECEIVES LiFE AWARD

On behalf of First State Bank of Uvalde, Chairman of the Board & CEO, Dick Geries, received the LiFE (Leaders in Financial Education) Award in Colorado Springs on May 8, 2014 at the Texas Bankers Association's 130th Annual Convention. The LiFE Award honors Texas banks that are dedicated leaders in promoting financial education in their communities.
