Uvalde's First Annual Go Blue Day Celebration

As a part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocates) along with local businesses and organizations, put on a celebration for children at the Uvalde Memorial Park on April 4th. First State Bank of Uvalde partnered with C.A.S.A. to include a newspaper advertising campaign along with a booth that provided children with blue FSB water bottles. A coin racing game was also included for children to enjoy.

The 3rd annual FSB Financial Literacy Essay contest will be held this year with a start date of February 15th and essays to be submitted by Friday, April 14th of 2017. The subject for 2017 will be:

Explain at least three differences between "needs" vs "wants" when dealing with your money. 

Students in grades 6th-9th from the surrounding Uvalde, Dimmit, & Real counties are welcomed to submit an essay. Prize money in the form of a Young Savings Account will be awarded to the top three essays.

Criteria for the essay:

*Essay must be written on the topic provided by FSB

*Essays must be at least 400 words and no less than 300 words, typed in at least a 14 font, on white paper

*A cover sheet with the student's name, grade, school, and home phone number is to be attached to the front of the essay

*Essays may be submitted at your school or may be dropped off at your closest First State Bank of Uvalde branch

*Deadline to submit essays is April 14th
