How does First State Bank of Uvalde protect my personal information? To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

We also maintain other physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect this information and we limit access to information to those employees for whom access is appropriate.

Our privacy principles apply to customers' confidential information with regards to both traditional and non-traditional (i.e., Internet) banking activities. However, due to the unique nature of the Internet and the ease with which information can be exchanged, we feel it is important for you to be aware of some of the unique issues and security surrounding Internet Banking.

Passwords are a very important part of the banking process. When you sign up for
Online Banking, you will receive in the mail special Login Codes assigned by First State Bank. These codes are for your use only. We highly recommend that you follow these guidelines when securing your codes:

Do not reveal your codes to anyone.
Avoid selecting codes based on personal information.
Avoid keeping written records of your codes.
Do not leave your computer unattended when connected to Online Banking.

We utilize encryption, firewall, router and other security software and hardware to prevent unauthorized eavesdropping of and access to customers' confidential and private information. We utilize virus protection software to help prevent the spread of computer viruses. Some areas of our web site may use a "cookie" temporarily stored in the visitor's computer memory (RAM) to allow the web server to log the pages you use within the site and to know if you have visited the site before.

When using E-mail, do not use identifying information such as account numbers, Social Security numbers etc. E-mail is typically an unsecure method for transmitting information. First State Bank provides a secure way for you to send the bank messages within FSB Online. After logging in click Services, Bank Mail and the “New” button.  Create your secure message and click "Mail".

Consumer Complaint Process
The First State Bank of Uvalde is chartered under the laws of the State of Texas and by state law is subject to regulatory oversight by the Texas Department of Banking. Any consumer wishing to file a complaint against the First State Bank of Uvalde should contact the Texas Department of Banking through one of the means indicated below:

First State Bank of Uvalde engages in the money transmission and/or currency exchange business as an authorized delegate of Travelers Express Co., Inc. (MoneyGram) Under Chapter 151 of the Texas Finance Code. After first contacting First State Bank of Uvalde, if you still have an unresolved complaint regarding the company’s money transmission or currency exchange activity, please direct your complaint to the Texas Department of Banking:

With proper safety measures in place, your FSB Online transactions remain confidential and safe. The following measures have been taken to ensure your privacy:

Secure access and Verifying User Authenticity:

Unique ID and P
assword
In order to access FSB Online, you must enter a unique User ID and Password.

Account "Nickname" names
We allow you to choose a "Nickname" for each of your accounts. For example, Home Checking, Judy's Savings, etc.

Automatic log-off
If you are logged on to FSB Online but do not use it for 10 minutes, you will not be able to proceed until you "re-log" onto the system.

Password "lockout" system
To keep unauthorized individuals from accessing your account by guessing your password, we have instituted a password lockout system. If your password is entered incorrectly three consecutive times, the user is "locked out" of the system.

Secure Data Transfer:
Encryption
The latest encryption technology helps ensure that your confidential account information cannot be accessed by another party. Encryption is a way to rewrite something in a code, which can be decoded later with the right "key." When you request information about your accounts, the information is sent across the web in an encrypted format to the First State Bank of Uvalde. We decode your request and send the requested information back to you in an encrypted format. When the information reaches you, it is decoded so that you, and no one else, can read it.

CAUTION – EMAIL is not a secure format and may be read by unauthorized persons. We do not recommend sending information that is sensitive or personal such as account, credit card or social security numbers by way of email. Secure messages may be sent to us within fsbonline. After entering FSB Online, click on the Services dropdown and click message center. Then click on send a message.

How you can protect your Internet security?
While FSB Online works to protect your banking privacy, you will also play an important role in protecting your accounts. There are a number of steps you can take to ensure that your FSB Online account information is protected, including:

Keep your password to yourself
Change your password frequently
Use the exit button after log out
Remain at your computer until your FSB Online transactions are completed and log out. Log out of FSB Online prior to visiting other Internet sites.
